The number of people who buy natural cosmetic products is increasing rapidly in the last few years. People are more concerned about their health and more aware that the chemical ingredients in commercial products can damage their health. There is one product which is often used in most homes, and it can be easily made at home in its natural version. It’s soap.
For making soaps, you must always use raw materials of natural origin because they are a much healthier solution. Those raw materials are commonly beeswax, various essential oils, vegetable fat and other ingredients that will not cause any harmful effects. Many synthetic products have that effect.
Some researches have shown that chemicals from cosmetics, such as parabens, formaldehyde, can damage health but they are still used in most cosmetic products on the market.
The most significant difference between natural and commercial products is in their composition.
The difference is also in the targeted group. Natural cosmetics are made so that a particular product works for a specific group of people, which means to fit the type.
Although there are natural soaps which fit most people, you can make a block of soap which will be just for your type of skin, depending on your needs.
How to choose natural cosmetics well?
You should always choose cosmetics by type of skin, hair and other needs. That is why you have to select a natural preparation that will work well on your skin and body.
There are natural cosmetic products for dry and irritated skin, for oily skin, or oily or dry hair – you can choose a product based on your skin type.
The goods label identifies explicitly the composition of a particular product, even a natural cosmetic product.
It is important to choose natural cosmetics that comes from a proven manufacturer. It is never smart to buy a product without the label and the appropriate packaging.
In natural cosmetics production, various herbal extracts are often used, in proportions that meet the needs of a person. Some cosmetics are used to make the skin softer than usual, to remove blackheads or to target some other skin problem.
So the use of a particular extract in cosmetics production depends on the purpose of that cosmetic product.
Each cosmetic product is used for some action: to reduce redness, alleviate and hide wrinkles, reduce the appearance of oily acne, or to calm an inflammatory process.
Although they are made of natural ingredients, natural cosmetic products can also cause allergic reactions, just like any cosmetic product.
You always have to read the labels (that is why it is vital that the product has a proper declaration)! The product may contain a substance you are allergic to which is a potential hazard which can put you in danger.

Olive oil soap
This trend has returned, especially in the last few decades. One time was forgotten, in the period when the industry got up and when it was fashionable to buy new products at that time.
Later marketing has preserved the position of such products for a long time, but over time we realized and accepted the fact that natural cosmetics are far better and healthier for us.
Today, the value lies in homemade or manually made. This applies especially to cosmetics, dominated by hand-made soap.
It is important to note that natural soaps and other natural cosmetics must undergo medical check-ups before they are placed on the market.
The buyer has a good view of the product he wants to buy, read the declaration, and confirm that he is buying a product that he intends to purchase. Contact qualified manufacturers or select products of proven origin and quality.

Hand-made soaps also have a chemical composition
The solvent is generated by the reaction of the chemical components, various oils, and fats.
It is essential to carefully select and combine quality oils, aromatic oils, and other components in soap.
Methods of making soaps
There are several methods of producing natural soap at home. These are used most often:
- Stirring and pouring – melting of purchased soap blocks and adding the scent
- Cold Process – This is the most common type of soap making
- The hot process – is the variation of the cold method where the soap is cooked
- Mix – grinding soap with added water/milk and stirring into one product
Each of these methods has its advantages and disadvantages, and in the course of time, various variations have been conceived.
This is perhaps the best method of making soaps to get started. When you learn and master this method, you can try it in some other way. Forming a natural soap will later relax you and become more comfortable and faster.
If you use a melting method, you won’t have much freedom when selecting ingredients, but the preparation is simple, and the possibility of errors is minimal.
The design process goes briefly, like this:
Buy some already made soap blocks in specialized stores, with no color or smell. Take one block and melt it; steam cooking is the best way to do it.
After you have dampened the block of soap, add the scent, color and desired ingredients to it, as your personal choice. Mix all the ingredients well, and then pour the liquid soap into the prepared mold. When the solvent is hardened, you can use it. If you have used some larger mold, cut the soap into pieces of the appropriate size.
To create a bar of soap, as described above, you need: workspace, a bowl for melting, a mixing bowl, a soap base (no scent and color soap pads), scent, color, and other ingredients. You also need a soap forming mold.
The benefits of this method for making soap are:
- Ease of production and economy, the solvent is ready to use immediately after it is hardened.
- Perhaps the best thing is that you do not have to use a solution that requires proper handling.
Caution! The quality of the soap is mainly dependent on the quality of the base you have bought.
The cold process of making natural soap
This process is a little more demanding, but the technique can easily be overcome.
Heat the oil in a bowl at 38C degrees, add a mixture of water and soda until a lightly thick mixture is obtained. When mixing “creases” appear, which tend to disappear, this means that the mixture is sufficiently thick and it is necessary to add the odor and other ingredients to it. After adding the last ingredients, pour the mixture into the mold.
For this method of making soaps you need: workspace, soap dish, animal and vegetable fat, water and soda, color, and a place where the soap will harden.
The advantage of using this method is that you can make soap to your wishes, and maximally customize and decorate it. You have complete control over the ingredients.
The disadvantage of this method is a little more complicated soap making. However, when you master these skills, this method will surely be your first choice.
No matter which method of soapmaking you choose, keep in mind that this is a great thing to do.
